terms of use
last updated october 25, 2026
these terms cover your use of the feather drive mac app, web app and this website. by using feather drive you agree to them. they are short on purpose.
what feather drive is
feather drive is software that connects your mac to your own google drive account. your files are stored by google, under your google account and google's terms. feather drive does not provide storage of its own.
the license
feather drive is free to download and try for 7 days; after that, using it needs a license (see purchases and refunds). we keep all rights in the app and this site; please don't resell or redistribute modified copies of it.
use of this site
please don't copy, scrape or run automated extraction on this site or the web app. you may not use the site or app (its content, design, artwork or code) to train ai systems, or prompt ai systems to reproduce or clone it. linking to us and quoting short bits with credit is fine.
purchases and refunds
feather drive comes with a free 7-day trial. after that, a one-time purchase gives you a license key for up to 3 macs, with all future updates included. payments are processed by razorpay. if feather drive isn't right for you, email hello@featherdrive.app within 14 days of purchase for a full refund; refunded license keys stop working.
your account and your content
- you need a google account to use feather drive, and you are responsible for keeping it secure.
- you own your files. we claim no rights to anything you store, share or receive with featherdrive.
- you are responsible for what you store and share, and for following google's terms of service and program policies while doing it.
- don't use feather drive to break the law, infringe others' rights, or distribute malware or abusive content through share links.
google storage limits
how much you can store depends on your google storage plan. google may limit uploads (for example, a daily upload cap) or stop accepting files when your storage is full. feather drive will tell you when this happens, but it can't get around those limits.
encryption and recovery keys
if you turn on encryption, only your passphrase or your 24-word recovery key can unlock your files. we never have a copy. if you lose both, your encrypted files cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. please store your recovery key somewhere safe.
no warranty
feather drive is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. it is software that moves your files around: keep backups of anything you can't afford to lose.
limitation of liability
to the fullest extent the law allows, the feather drive maintainers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, profits or revenue, arising from your use of featherdrive. some places don't allow these limits, so they may not fully apply to you.
third-party services
feather drive relies on google drive, apple's macOS and github, each under its own terms. we aren't responsible for their availability or changes. feather drive is not made, sponsored or endorsed by google or apple.
changes and ending
we may update these terms; the date above will change, and big changes will be noted in the changelog. you can stop using feather drive at any time by quitting the app and revoking its access in your google account.
